by GIDRM

Following the conduct of the ASEAN Regional Disaster Emergency Response Simulation Exercise (ARDEX) in Brunei Darussalam in November 2016 the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) gathered at the AHA Centre in Jakarta on 20 and 21 April 2017 to share lessons learned from the ARDEX-16, to review the ARDEX Handbook and the Referee Manual as well as to start the revision process of the ASEAN Standby Arrangements and Standard Operating Procedures (SASOP).

Within the framework of the GIDRM, GIZ in collaboration with the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), have provided their technical expertise and experience to the after action review of the ARDEX-16. The ARDEX aims to test, practice and review ASEAN's disaster management and emergency response mechanisms. The ARDEX-18 will be hosted by the Government of Indonesia.
